Mirabel & the Jewish History of Gloucester

£7 adult /£5 concession

Gloucester has an unexpected and fascinating Jewish history and at its heart lies Meribel who took over and ran her husband’s business after his death in 1210 and enjoyed freedoms unknown by women outside the Jewish community. Her portrait, in the royal rolls, is one of the very earliest images of a Jewish woman in England. Hear her story and the Jewish history of Gloucester with historian Marcus Roberts
